About the Role
We are seeking a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a 4-year-old child in Carlisle who has autism and a severe learning disability. The role involves providing personalised care, promoting safety, and supporting meaningful engagement through a variety of structured and sensory-based activities.
The child has no sense of danger, so the ability to remain vigilant and maintain a safe environment at all times is essential. She enjoys spending time outdoors on the playground, especially in quiet, non-crowded spaces, and also loves visiting soft play, which offers a calm environment with a wide range of toys and sensory equipment.
Applicants must be confident in managing challenging situations, including meltdowns, which can be difficult to predict. Experience with behavioural support and de-escalation strategies is very important.
This position offers 4 hours of work per week during school holidays. Previous experience is essential, and a DBS check will be required (funded by the employer). A driving licence is preferred.
