Job purpose
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing the company’s payroll, serving as a key point of contact for employees on payroll-related matters.
Duties and responsibilities
• Communicate professionally and effectively with employees and independent contractors to gather necessary payroll information
• Calculate wages for both employees and independent contractors
• Calculate overtime, deductions, and other applicable payroll items
• Accurately enter payroll information into payroll systems
• Prepare and process payroll through the designated payroll system
• Process employee benefits deductions and wage garnishments
• Respond promptly to payroll-related questions and concerns from employees and management
• Prepare payroll reports for management as requested
• Prepare and reconcile payroll schedules to ensure accuracy
• Assist the Payroll Department with additional tasks and projects as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
• Prior payroll processing experience strongly preferred
Specialized knowledge:
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex information accurately
• Demonstrates a high level of efficiency, accuracy, and personal accountability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with honesty and integrity
• Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to detail
