Teaching Assistant – After School Homework Club Location: Hackney, London Salary: £17.00 per hour Hours: 2 hours per session, 2 days per week (Term Time Only) Contract Type: Part-Time About the Role Austin Dean Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support Children and Young People during after-school homework sessions at a local Children and Family Hub . This role is perfect for someone passionate about helping learners reach their potential in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. You’ll play a key part in preparing learning materials, supporting families, and encouraging young people to take part in activities that build confidence and academic achievement. Key Responsibilities Under the direction of the Head of Centre and Extended Services & Partnership Lead, you will: • Lead and support children and young people during after-school homework sessions. • Supervise and maintain a positive, nurturing learning environment. • Prepare learning materials and resources in advance of each session. • Work collaboratively with families to support individual learning needs. • Promote engagement in various Children and Family Hub activities. • Complete attendance registers and other relevant documentation accurately. • Encourage positive behaviour in line with Hub policies and procedures. • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, data protection, and confidentiality policies. • Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the Children and Family Hub. Requirements • Level 3 NVQ in Education or equivalent qualification (essential). • Proven experience working with children and young people in an educational setting. • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with children, parents, and colleagues. • Excellent communication and organisational skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to working with young people. • A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles. • Positive, enthusiastic, and committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families.
