Description
Part Time Finance Manager (Charity) - Penzance area - £36,000 FTE
• Please note that due to the rural location of this employers’ site, applicants must have a reliable mode of transport *
Trial Balance Consulting have formed an exclusive recruitment partnership with a new client - a most unique and fascinating charity based west of Penzance in an undeniably beautiful setting. The organisation has tasked us to recruit their next Finance Manager, a position offered on a permanent, part time basis working over a 3.5 day working week. The charity is entirely flexible as to how working hours are arranged.
Joining a long standing and very friendly senior management team, the successful candidate will assume a standalone role, essentially managing all aspects of the day-to-day financial controls for a small not-for-profit organisation. Working closely with the CEO and Creative Director, as well as the board of trustees, this will be a broad-ranging and interesting opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper. Key responsibilities to include:
• Acting as the finance number one for the charity, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations
• Production of management accounts for presentation with commentary to the board of trustees
• Budget forecasting
• Bank reconciliations
• Authorising supplier payment runs
• Cashflow and income monitoring
• HMRC submissions
• Process Gift Aid claims
• Monthly payroll operations to include employee pensions
• Preparation of annual balance sheet
• Preparation of statutory reports in line with charity SORP and UK Charity Commission
• VAT preparation and submission
• Liaison with external auditors and stakeholders
The successful candidate: We’re more focussed on relevant technical and career experience than we are qualification status so applications are invited from both QBE, AAT and part/fully professionally qualified applicants. Previous experience gained in a charity accounting environment would be highly advantageous, but this employer recognises that a commercially astute Finance Manager with exposure gained in the private sector will also have a lot to offer here. Either way you’ll be an accomplished accountant with superb organisational and interpersonal skills.
