Owen Reed is seeking an experienced paralegal to join a successful Real Estate team, based in Brighton office for a leading law firm. You will be joining a busy, diverse and proactive team, supporting an experienced fee-earner and dealing with high quality work. You should be keen to take on a challenging and varied role and prospects for advancement in due course are good. You will be assisting in the running of live files, in addition to supporting your supervisor in all aspects of conveyancing transactions, from instructions through to post completion. The work involves liaising with all parties and providing administrative and legal assistance throughout the conveyancing process. Previous conveyancing experience in a legal environment is required and you should ideally also have relevant legal qualifications. We do offer support for different routes to qualification, for successful paralegals. You must have a good understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction to completion and practical experience in raising enquiries, reviewing replies and report drafting (under supervision). You must be confident and competent to work to timescales, be able to use your initiative, commercially aware and have good inter-personal skills. A team approach and flexibility are vital. Duties will include: • File opening and AML compliance • Dealing with administrative exchange formalities completion and post completion tasks • Preparing reports on title, mortgages and searches (with supervision) • Raising and reviewing enquiries on title and contract packs, searches and surveys (with supervision). • Liaising with clients, agents, lenders and other solicitors to progress transactions. • Drafting financial statements and invoices • General administration tasks and the updating of internal and external systems • You will also have client contact, with supervision.
