Starting at $26/hr. The compensation for this position will be determined by the candidate's level of experience. Monday-Thursday 10 hour shifts, possibility of overtime on Fridays Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for applying primer and topcoat to commercial trailers (steel and aluminum) using spray gun equipment and techniques. Painters must follow high quality standards to minimize defects and exceed customer standards Cleans grease and dirt from product Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color. Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool Prepare surface using metal, wood, or plastic part to sand or ground surface Use spray guns to coat metal Fill the machine's tanks with a mixture of paints or chemicals, adding prescribed amounts of solution Adjust nozzles on the spray guns to obtain the proper dispersion of the spray Check product for flaws, bubbles, or imperfections Regulate the temperature and air circulation in drying ovens Position automatic spray guns, set nozzles, and synchronize action of guns with speed of conveyor carrying articles; apply touch-ups Handle/store and dispose of hazardous waste according to city, state and federal laws Frequently climbs, walks, stoops and kneels; works inside/outside in cool and hot weather conditions; lift/carry no more than 50lbs
