Outreach Tutor - Looked After Child (Care Home) Ilford September Start 20- 35 per Hour
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Outreach Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition for a looked after child living within a residential care home in Ilford .
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting a young person who requires personalised education outside of a mainstream school setting. The role will involve 2 hours of tuition per day, Monday to Friday , focusing on the core curriculum.
The Role
As an Outreach Tutor, you will deliver engaging, tailored lessons in English, Maths and Science , adapting your teaching to meet the individual needs of the student. You will play a key role in rebuilding confidence, encouraging engagement with learning and helping the student achieve positive educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver 1:1 tuition sessions within a residential care home.
• Teach core subjects, including English, Maths and Science.
• Plan and adapt lessons to suit the student's individual learning needs and ability.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship to encourage engagement and progress.
• Monitor attainment and provide regular feedback on progress.
• Work professionally alongside care staff and other professionals supporting the young person.
• Maintain a safe, supportive and structured learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
• Experience working as a Tutor, Teacher or SEN specialist.
• Confident delivering core subjects at an appropriate level.
• Experience supporting looked after children, vulnerable learners, or pupils with SEN and/or SEMH is highly desirable.
• Patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
