Description
The Role: Operator, Machinist is an entry level position where the operator functions as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support the organization. Essential Functions Able to setup, edit and operate lathes and mills. Versed in Rotary or Indexing capability as the application applies to the Vertical and Horizontal Machine Center. Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner using proper feed and speed Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level Assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshooting. Performs and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenance Demonstrates high degree of ownership for product quality: check parts to ensure specifications are met according to print. Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventories. Operates lift truck with certification. Must review, acknowledge and follow the Company Safety Policy including Safety Glasses and Steel Toed Shoes. Other duties assigned due to the need of the business. Physical/Environmental Requirements Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts. Bending, stooping, twist, turn, sitting for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally. Skills and Abilities undefined Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment. Ability to execute agreed tasks and deadlines against performance criteria (KPI) Result orientation, ability to follow through and respect deadlines. Proactive and organized. Ability to manage confidential information. Physical Capacity Profile/Drug screen required. Education, Knowledge, and Experience Completion of Apprenticeship program or Technical school preferred One (1) year of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline.
