Overview A pan-European district heating and cooling operator is seeking an Operations Director to oversee its Belgian operations and contribute to broader European decarbonisation initiatives. The role requires a hands-on operational leader capable of driving efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction across heat networks serving urban municipalities across Belgium. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations across heat production plants, distribution networks, and customer connections in Belgium. Drive operational KPIs, including network availability, heat losses, and customer service levels. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and asset management programmes. Manage health and safety compliance in line with Belgian Welfare at Work legislation and ATEX regulations. Oversee maintenance planning and contribute to the company's decarbonisation roadmap (biomass, geothermal, waste heat recovery). Lead a team of regional managers and approximately 200 operational staff. Partner with engineering teams on network expansion and modernisation projects. Requirements Essential Qualifications 12+ years in utilities, energy, or operations leadership. Demonstrated success managing multi-site industrial operations. Knowledge of Belgian energy regulations and concession frameworks. Fluent in Dutch and English. Desired Qualifications Engineering background (thermal, mechanical, or energy). Experience with sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives in heat networks. Benefits Salary €115,000 – €135,000 gross per annum. Bonus, company car, and standard benefits apply.
