In 2024 we were spun out as a stand-alone entity, and we remain a reputable company in the maritime industry known for a focus on operational excellence.  We are now looking for a Deck Bosun/Bas who will work on board our vessels. Job purpose The Deck Bosun is overall responsible for all deck operations onboard the vessel. This includes ensuring that all fishing gear, deck gear, and related equipment are fully operational, that all required spare parts are in stock, and that all fishing‑gear‑related costs remain within budget. The Deck Bosun is also responsible for ensuring that the deck department is staffed with competent and qualified crew.  Responsibility during operation Responsible for all deck personnel.  Responsible for trawl deck and make sure operation is optimized during fishery. See to that fishing- and deck gear at all times is operative and optimized.  Order fishing- and deck equipment using the purchasing system.  Repair and maintenance, including preventive maintenance of fishing- and deck gear.  Responsible for following up the grease of any equipment on deck.  Responsible for inventory kept up to date.  Create handover notes for oncoming Deck B.  Safety responsibility Be familiar with duties according to "station bill" and muster lists for life rafts.  Make sure that all possible measures has been taken to perform safe operations ontrawl deck together with Captain and Fish Mate Secure any area and equipment while undergoing maintenance.  Wear safety equipment as required.  Responsible to see to that all deck personnel wear safety equipment as required during any deck operations while on duty.  HSE MS: Comply fully with the requirements in the Company’s HSE MS system, national as well as international rules and legislations and other precautions currently valid on board. Drills: According to “Emergency Plan”: MEDEVAC, OIL pollution, FF, MOB, Abandon ship.  HSE Activities: Actively take part in HSE meetings and programs, event reporting etc. Location: Vessel Travel and rotation Crew changes are normally arranged in Montevideo, Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams. Shift rotation: One shift on (ca three months incl travels, 12/7 shift; 12 hours on, 12 hours off, 7 days a week for the entire rotation ) and two shifts off, averaging 150 sea days per year and about 120 - 135 days off between trips. Travel to and from fishing ground is about one week each way at the beginning and the end of the rotation, using ports in Uruguay, Chile, and Falkland Islands for embarkation on cargo and passenger vessel, bringing crew to fishing vessels on fishing ground.
