The Oiler is responsible for supporting the daily operation and maintenance of the vessel's engine room while ensuring compliance with safety, operational, and environmental standards. Key responsibilities include: Assist the Engineer on duty in monitoring and operating the vessel's main engine, auxiliary engines, generators, and other machinery to ensure safe and efficient operations. Perform routine lubrication, equipment inspections, and preventive maintenance while reporting any abnormalities or technical issues promptly to the Engineer. Support bunkering operations, emergency response activities, and engine room watchkeeping in compliance with safety and environmental standards. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper inventory of engine room equipment, spare parts, and machinery to ensure operational readiness. Ensure compliance with company SOPs, STCW requirements, and safety regulations while supporting the Chief Engineer and Engineer in maintaining optimal vessel performance. Requirements Hold a valid Basic Level Marine Engineering Expert (Rating Certificate) . Possess valid Basic Safety Training (BST) and Seaman's Book certificates. Hold a valid Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (SCRB) certificate. Possess a valid Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF) certificate. Hold Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (SDSD) and Medical First Aid (MEFA) certificates (SDSD may be required depending on the vessel).
