TITLE: MUSIC TEACHER REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL Primary Purpose: To be an exemplary teacher, clearly demonstrating effective planning, teaching and organization, and high standards of achievement and behavior in Music lessons. Responsibilities: • Teaching general styles of music. • Teaching classical piano, practical and theory. • Teaching singing to students from beginner to advanced level. • Incorporating musical instruments and movement in lessons. • Planning and implementing a program of instruction and lesson plans. • Preparing students for school concerts and planned music experiences. • Preparing students for practicals and exams. • Inspiring and motivating students to extend themselves to after-school music clubs. • Building relationships and mentoring students. • Explaining different styles and genres of music • Conducting music theory and practical examinations • Helping students tap on their potential • Suggesting additions and improvements in the curriculum • Coordinating with staff members in organizing extracurricular activities • Maintaining and encouraging a fun and positive atmosphere in the music class Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in music. • Experience in teaching piano classes • License to teach as an academic (state requirement). • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Excellent knowledge about different music genres and instruments • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Good organizational and time management skills • Demonstrating a passion for music and high patience levels • Ability to assess students potential and skills • Ability to lead a choir, orchestra, or a concert • Ability to conduct extracurricular activities and musical performances About American Baccalaureate School: ABS is a private, non-profit school offering an American-based curriculum including a wide variety of advanced courses, and a college preparatory program, guiding students to become independent, intellectual global citizens.
