Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mobile Diesel Technician III to join our dynamic team. What You'll Do: • Travel to company locations to perform service calls, diagnose and repair trucks and associated equipment. • Change and repair tires according to manufacturer specifications. • Perform oil and filter services on automobiles, concrete trucks, tractor-trailers, and various types of equipment. • Conduct diagnostics and repairs on electrical systems, ranging from auxiliary components such as lighting and switches to complex 12V and 24V primary electrical architectures on fleet trucks. • Assess power and hydraulic systems to verify proper operation in accordance with manufacturer specifications. • Complete lubrication and greasing of all wear items to ensure optimal performance and longevity. • Perform major diagnosis and repair of gas and diesel engines. • Diagnose and repair fuel injection, transmission, and regeneration systems using laptop and scan diagnostic tools. • Diagnose and repair universal, slip joints, support bearings on drive shafts, air and hydraulic brake systems and pressurized water systems. • Provide guidance and assistance to Diesel Technicians I and II when needed. • Other duties as assigned. We’re hiring across our other markets: • Lowcountry: Charleston/Jedburg/St. George/Moncks Corner • Midlands: Columbia/Lexington/Irmo/Blythewood/Lugoff/Sumter • South: Hampton/Beaufort/Okatie/Richmond Hill/Savannah Visit our careers page to explore all openings: www.knightscompanies.com Requirements • Valid CDL A Driver’s License required. • High School Diploma/GED preferred. • Auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school preferred; or minimum of 5 years’ experience performing maintenance or mechanical ability. • ASE Certifications preferred. • Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if it is operating properly. • Must provide own hand tools & toolbox. • Knowledge of handheld scanning tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles. • Ability to read schematics and familiarity with the process. • Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.) • Travel up to 50% within the market. Physical Demands: • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. from floor to waist height. • Ability to carry minimum of 50 lbs. over a 5-foot span. • Ability to push / pull a minimum of 50 lbs. across a 10-foot span. • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs. from waist to shoulder. • Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. • Ability to bend or twist body without restriction. • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl. • Ability to work in extreme weather, including but not limited to high heat, low temperature, and high sun environments.
