Performs work related to reading water meters and recording water consumption for residential and commercial customers. T his is a seasonal, full-time position intended to meet operational needs for an approximately six (6) month assignment. Continued employment beyond the assignment period is not guaranteed and is dependent on operational needs and available funding/authorized positions. • Walks or drives truck over established route and takes readings of meter dials. • Inspects meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections. • Indicates irregularities on forms for necessary servicing. • Verifies readings to locate abnormal consumption and records reasons for fluctuations and reports suspicious water consumption to Utility Billing Manager. • Turns service off for nonpayment of charges in vacant premises, or on for new occupants. • Returns route book to business office for billing purposes. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Previous experience in meter reading, utility work, field services, delivery routes, or related work is preferred (but may not be required).Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (Class C) or be able to obtain one by hire date.
