Role Overview Merchandising and Category Management specialists apply hands-on pricing, markdown, and competitive analysis expertise to evaluate AI-generated merchandising content and produce expert feedback and training data. This contract role draws on real-world merchandising workflows to improve how AI systems understand pricing strategy, markdown planning, and category management tactics. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
• Review AI-generated responses about merchandising and category management for accuracy, relevance, and practical applicability.
• Provide detailed, expert feedback that reflects real-world practices in pricing strategy, markdown optimization, and promotional planning.
• Create high-quality training examples that represent common workflows and edge cases from daily merchandising work.
• Use your experience with tariff and competitive pricing analysis, markdown hindsight analysis, and promotional campaign planning to inform evaluations.
• Work independently and communicate written findings clearly to AI research teams.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in merchandising, category management, or buying.
• Relevant job titles include Merchandiser, Merchandise Planner, Category Manager, Buyer, or equivalent retail industry roles.
• Hands-on experience with merchandising and category management workflows, including pricing strategy, markdown optimization, and promotional campaign planning.
• Strong written communication skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work asynchronously and independently.
• No prior AI or machine learning experience required.
Work Terms
• Engagement type: part-time, flexible hourly contract work, not a traditional full-time job.
• Fully remote, asynchronous schedule with no minimum hour requirement.
• Typical participation when projects are active is approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Placement is project-dependent, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation
• Up to $80/hr (depending on the project).
Eligibility
• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
• If your school requires enrollment in a specific CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for participation in this program.
