Te Tūranga – About the role
Our Commercial team helps bring great products, compelling offers and exciting opportunities to life for our stores and customers. We're now looking for a Merchandise Lead Assistant to join our PAK'nSAVE team and support the delivery of key merchandising initiatives across the business.
As a Merchandise Lead Assistant, you'll partner closely with the PAK'nSAVE Merchandise Lead, Category Managers, Business Managers, suppliers and distribution centre teams to help deliver merchandising programmes that drive value for our stores and customers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to category management, commercial planning and merchandising, making it a great stepping stone for someone looking to build a long-term retail career.
You'll also:
Support the administration and execution of clearance programmes and opportunity buys
Maintain and validate product, pricing and allocation data to ensure accuracy
Assist with promotional planning, seasonal activities and key commercial events
Monitor market, competitor and customer trends to help identify new opportunities
Track performance reporting and provide insights to support category and merchandising decisions

We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits:
Free carparking, including EV charging facilities
Southern Cross health insurance
Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini mart and 5% discount at our retail stores
Flexible working options, birthday leave and long service leave
Inhouse learning and development programmes, flu vaccinations and social network groups (we call them Tribes)
He kōrero mōu – About you
You're highly organised, naturally curious and enjoy working with data, processes and people. You have a keen interest in retail and commercial performance and are excited by the opportunity to grow your merchandising and category management capability.
We'll be particularly interested in:
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced) and confidence working with data
The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A genuine interest in retail trends, customer behaviour and commercial performance
We’re interested in your diverse experiences, your strengths and how adaptable you are to learn and grow. If you don't meet every requirement, but feel this role could be for you, we'd still love to hear from you!
Experience awesome. Achieve awesome. Be awesomely you.
We're proud to have a focus on Diversity & Inclusion here at Foodies and welcome courageous behaviour, encourage togetherness, and inspire our people to be their best selves in our Foodies whānau.
We encourage you to apply with all your awesomeness and welcome your diverse background, including any disability, additional health and mental health needs, and/or neurodiversity. If you require reasonable accommodations throughout our recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you to participate fully and equitably.
