Mental Health Counsellor (Contractor) | NDIS, Private & Community National Disability & Community Services (NDCS) South Australia | Flexible Work | Immediate Start Why Join NDCS • High-quality referrals across NDIS, private clients, and community programs • Flexible contractor model • Competitive hourly rates based on experience • Work with diverse and meaningful cases • Structured and compliant organisation with strong growth About the Role We are seeking experienced Mental Health Counsellors (Contractors) to deliver counselling services across: • NDIS participants (psychosocial and complex needs) • Private clients (self-funded counselling) • Community and carer support programs This role suits professionals who can work independently, manage diverse client presentations, and maintain strong clinical and documentation standards. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-on-one counselling sessions • Support clients with mental health, trauma, stress, and behavioural challenges • Develop structured, goal-focused therapeutic strategies • Maintain accurate progress notes, reports, and incident documentation • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams • Identify risks and follow appropriate reporting and safeguarding processes • Support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and independence Minimum Qualifications (Required to Apply) • Bachelor’s degree or higher in: • Counselling • Psychology • Social Work • Mental Health • Community Services (Mental Health) Highly Regarded • ACA, PACFA or AASW membership • Experience in NDIS, private practice, or community sector • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice Requirements •  ABN (Australian Business Number) • Professional Indemnity Insurance • Public Liability Insurance • NDIS Worker Screening Check • Working With Children Check • National Police Check • First Aid & CPR (current) • Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle Work Structure • Contractor engagement only (not employment) • Flexible hours based on client demand • No guaranteed shifts • Services across metro and regional SA • Contractors manage their own tax and compliance Who This Role Is For Experienced counsellors who can work independently Professionals confident managing complex mental health clients Individuals with strong documentation and compliance discipline Why This Role Stands Out NDCS operates with strict professional and compliance standards.
