Description
Causal Labs is building a Large Physics foundation Model to predict and control physical systems. This Member of Technical Staff role in Security Engineering focuses on designing and operating security across their entire engineering stack, spanning petabyte-scale data infrastructure, distributed GPU clusters, and customer deployments.
What You'll Do
• Design and deploy robust security architectures across distributed GPU clusters, shared compute platforms, and network infrastructure
• Drive secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices by partnering with Infrastructure and Research teams to embed security into pipelines, APIs, and orchestrators like Kubernetes and Slurm
• Own identity and access management (IAM), data governance, and encryption strategies for petabyte-scale physical observation data and proprietary model checkpoints
• Conduct threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and implement proactive threat detection and incident response tooling for large-scale ML infrastructure
• Support Forward Deployed teams in navigating security and compliance constraints of high-stakes customer environments
What You Need
• Demonstrated experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or application security within large-scale distributed systems or cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Strong systems and software engineering background with Linux, networking, infrastructure-as-code, and proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust
• Deep understanding of unique security challenges associated with machine learning platforms, distributed training, and protecting high-value model weights and intellectual property
• Ability to work directly with complex systems, conduct architectural security reviews, and adapt quickly to new constraints or customer environments
• End-to-end ownership of deliverables from requirements through autonomous execution
