Description
Vacancy summary Altus Education Partnership is a values-led, forward‑looking Multi‑Academy Trust with a clear purpose: to ensure that every young person across its schools and colleges realises their full academic potential and leads a happy, fulfilling life. Established in 2017 by the governing body of the nationally renowned Rochdale Sixth Form College, the Trust has grown into a thriving family of academies united by a commitment to equity, excellence and community. The Trust believes that every young person can succeed. Across all Altus academies, a culture of mutual respect, high standards and positive behaviour is promoted so that pupils feel inspired, supported and empowered—regardless of their prior attainment or background. Altus’ work is rooted in the conviction that great teaching, exceptional pastoral care and strong community partnerships can transform life chances. We are looking to recruit a Member for our Trust, and also two Trustees with a background and expertise in finance. We are looking for a Member to play a limited but crucial role in overseeing the performance and governance of the Trust. Members attend the AGM once a year, and they are also invited to additional Trust-wide events. Our Members are the guardians of our Trust and custodians of its governance, vision and values. Whilst the time commitment is not demanding, the role will give an interesting insight into the operations of a growing Rochdale trust with a strong commitment to the local area. The trust are currently seeing a member to join their board. Members are expected to attend two meetings per year - the AGM and the budget approval meeting. Skills • Wide range of experience considered Establishment Information Address: Altus Education Partnership Suite F4 No.2 The Esplanade Rochdale OL16 1AE Website: Type of establishment: Multi-academy trust Usual start time of meeting: AGM + Trust wide visits What does the role include? As a trustee/director your key responsibilities are to ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction; to hold executive leaders to account – both for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and to oversee the organisation’s financial performance to ensure its funds are directed to the best possible educational outcomes for young people. By volunteering as a trustee/director you will be responsible for contributing to the strategic decision-making of the board, helping the trust to realise immediate and long-term goals, and ultimately ensuring transparency, accountability, and challenge. What are the benefits? Volunteering on an academy trust board is a meaningful way to shape young people’s futures and strengthen education in your community. Trustees play a vital role in setting strategic direction and holding executive leaders to account — ensuring schools deliver the best outcomes. Alongside making a tangible impact, you’ll gain valuable experience in senior-level decision-making. This is a great opportunity to support your career development, build a non-executive portfolio, and give back to education.
