Description
As a part time (0.6 FTE) Medical Consultant working on Practice Management and Registration cases in the Quality/Registration  departments,  you will report t hrough the Senior Medical Consultant to   the  Assistant Registrar (Quality). Y ou will  work collaboratively with   the Quality, Registration and Complaints & Investigation teams at CPSM to  assess and advise on complex cases requiring regular medical consultant oversight. This may include cases where the registrant is involved in multiple areas at the college, including complex Q uality   A ssu rance  (QA )  monitoring,  referrals from Complaints and Investigations , r egistr ants  with undertakings, complex involvement with R egional  H ealth  A uthority  leadership ,  provisional registrants  an d  recognized training route registrants under supervision,  as wel l as  ca ses  with  complex registration issues and concerns. You will  assist  with  R egistration projects, including  providing feedback on  policies relating to qualifications and credentialing  and reviewing  practice descriptions for C linical  Assistants  and  P hysician  A ssistant s. As a  Medical Consultant  you  will  dem on strate  leadership by  promot ing  the importance and  ess ential  responsibilities of self-regulation, and the CPSM mandate of public protection while  maintaining  the educational supportive focus of the Quality Department and fostering a positive workplace culture within the department .   You will be engaged in system level outputs that require systems level thinking, strategy and collaboration. Responsibilities   & Performance Standards Collaborate  on the  operations  within  the Quality  and Registration  Program s . • Provide leadership to quality team to develop and continuously improve processes and operations • E nsure   timely  oversight ,  guidance  and monitoring   of  registrants with  un dertak ings  and complex monitoring • P roblem   solves   to address  comple x  p ractice man agement  concer ns  in  accord ance with   es tablished  sta ndard s of practic e  and  in accordance with  CMA code of ethics • P rovide  guida nce to  update by laws  and regulations   impact ing  qu ality  department • M eet   es tablished  proc ess  and  p rocedur e  timel ines   according to established  quality  department  guidelines • A ddress   pro blems  that arise  in processes and operations   i n accor dance with  CPS M  pr ocedures • Speak/correspond with registrants  and  other healthcare professionals directly to  facilitate  information collection  and analysis, problem solving, provide education   and support • Connect with other external subject matter experts/consultants  and  community resources to support registrants • Connect and collaborate with other  regulatory authorities • Up date  Assistant Registrar  regularly  to e nsure  informed  regarding   important issues  and other data collected  in   these  portfolio s • Participat e   in meetings  and  conferences related to program work • P re par e and  prov ide   educ ation  and  support  to  the College  and  C PSM  reg istrants Performance Standards • Program improvements • Policy recommendations • Monitoring plans • Education and guidance Support other areas of CPSM • Share knowledge and experience with other departments of CPSM Other Duties as assigned . Qualifications Education & Experience: • The consultant will be a licensed  physician  member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba   or  eligible for full registration and licensure in Manitoba . • Clinical experience  of  eight years  minimum Note : broad scopes of practice are preferred •   Practice experience in and familiarity with Manitoba  or a Manitoban physician network preferred. Knowledge and Skills : • Ability to  represent  the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba  locally and nationally as  required   to   establish  rapport and trust to  acquire  the needed information  to enhance programs and processes • Ability to create and  maintain  rapport with various levels and types of  interested parties • Problem solving, decision making , criti cal thin king  skills  with  ability to  innovate,  formulate ,  and implement strategy • Demonstrate d  l eadership and case management skills • Excellent listening and communication skills and  practice with a trauma informed approach • Demonstrated   written ,  oral,  and public speaking  communication skills. • P ersonal standards and strengths  con gr uent  with CPSM  cu ltu re  and mand ate . • Awareness and appreciation of the routes to practice that are available to internationally trained physicians. • Knowledge of the  Regulated Health Professions  Act, Bylaws , related  legislation  and Code of Conduct • Ability and willingness to travel  a s   appropriate  to  a ttend  meetings and/or conferences APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED.
