About the Role: As a Medical Assistant in Oncology Lab at Quincy Medical Group, you will play an important role in supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment journey. Working alongside oncologists, infusion nurses, and the multidisciplinary oncology team, you will assist with laboratory services, patient assessments, vascular access support, and care coordination to help ensure patients receive timely, compassionate care. Schedule & Work Environment • Full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with one scheduled half-day each week. • No weekends, holidays, or overnight shifts. • Fast-paced outpatient oncology clinic supporting patients receiving cancer treatment and follow-up care. • Collaborative team environment focused on delivering exceptional patient-centered care. Primary Responsibilities • Escort patients to exam rooms or laboratory areas and prepare them for provider visits and laboratory testing. • Obtain and document vital signs, weight, medical histories, medication reconciliation, and other clinical information within the electronic medical record. • Assist providers and nursing staff with patient care, specimen collection, injections, phlebotomy, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice. • Support laboratory collections, including peripheral blood draws and assisting with patients who have ports, PICCs, and other central venous access devices. • Monitor patient status during visits and communicate concerns or abnormal findings promptly to the clinical team. • Coordinate laboratory orders, future testing, referrals, medication refills, and follow-up appointments through the electronic medical record. • Maintain accurate patient documentation, including allergies, medication updates, patient instructions, and care coordination activities. • Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms, laboratory supplies, linens, and clinical equipment to ensure readiness for patient care. • Collaborate with providers, nurses, laboratory staff, and the oncology team to promote efficient clinic flow and an exceptional patient experience. • Perform other duties as assigned to support Oncology operations. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required. • Current CPR certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire). • Medical Assistant certification preferred. • One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, PCA, or in a similar clinical role preferred. • Previous experience in oncology, infusion, hematology, laboratory services, or another specialty practice preferred but not required. • Phlebotomy experience preferred. • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. • Ability to provide compassionate care while supporting patients with complex medical needs. • Experience with electronic medical records preferred. • Commitment to delivering safe, patient-centered care in a collaborative team environment. The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $16.12 - $24.18 per hour , with actual pay determined by experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through bonuses and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
