Position: Mechanical Inspector
Salary Range: $133,000 - $139,000
Location: Onsite (Los Angeles, CA)

Position Description Summary The Mechanical Inspector will support LAWA’s construction inspection and work as a member of LAWA Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program. *Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as a Commercial Mechanical Inspector to apply. *Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years, prior to assignment *Successfully hired candidates must have LAWA SIDA badge prior to official start. *Must be able to work any assigned shift - day, swing, or night - as required to meet the contractor’s construction schedule.
Professional Experience Level/Minimum Qualifications • Mechanical inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing mechanical inspections for Building Construction. • Mechanical inspection staff possess a thorough knowledge of the materials and methods used in the installation of plumbing, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration installations. • Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Mechanical Inspector • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years • Fall protection and harness training.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience: • Additional Current ICC certification as a Commercial Plumbing Inspector • NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years. • Plumbing experience (journeyman/master level) with progression into inspection. • Experience inspecting mechanical systems of large-scale commercial, industrial or public buildings. • Confined Space Entry Training • Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects. • Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials. • Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards. • Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency. • A strong understanding of diverse code requirements (CBC & CMC). • Excellent communication and time management skills.
