Mechanical Engineer Anwick, Lincolnshire | Permanent / Sat, Sun & Mon | Competitive Salary Job Type Permanent / Sat, Sun, Mon Salary Competitive Discipline Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Maintenance Environment Food manufacturing / production Role Overview We are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a busy manufacturing engineering team in Anwick, Lincolnshire. This is a hands-on role supporting production by ensuring plant, machinery and equipment are maintained, repaired and operating efficiently. The successful candidate will respond to breakdowns, complete planned preventative maintenance, carry out mechanical fault finding and support improvements across equipment availability, performance and reliability. The role would suit a mechanically qualified engineer with experience in a manufacturing, production, food, FMCG or similar industrial environment. Key Responsibilities • Respond quickly and safely to plant stoppages, breakdowns and equipment issues. • Carry out mechanical maintenance, adjustment and repair of production machinery. • Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks and support ongoing equipment reliability. • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults across manufacturing equipment. • Work with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and associated plant. • Ensure machinery operates efficiently and meets production and product specification requirements. • Record engineering activity, labour and parts accurately using the PPM system/SAP. • Work closely with engineering leaders, production teams and external engineers to improve performance. • Support continuous improvement activity to increase uptime, availability and OEE. • Follow all site Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH and lock-out/tag-out requirements. • Complete accurate documentation, maintenance records and PPM paperwork. • Support training and assessment of production staff on safe and effective machine operation. • Contribute to energy reduction, environmental improvement and site efficiency initiatives. • Report hazards, defects, incidents and near misses promptly. • Promote safe working practices and support a positive engineering culture across site. Key Requirements • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent mechanical qualification. • Recognised UK engineering qualifications. • Previous experience in manufacturing operations. • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills. • Confident working on breakdowns, planned maintenance and equipment improvements. • Good decision-making skills and the ability to work safely under pressure. • Good standard of written and spoken English. • Ability to complete accurate maintenance records and documentation. Desirable Experience • Experience in food manufacturing, food processing or poultry machinery. • Welding experience, ideally TIG. • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques. • Experience working with automated machinery. • Computer literacy and experience using SAP or a similar maintenance system. • 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification would be beneficial.
