About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Commercial Mechanical Engineer / Pipefitter to join a family-run mechanical services contractor based in Bury St Edmunds. The company delivers commercial mechanical installation, commercial gas servicing and prison estate maintenance, with a strong pipeline of long-term contracts alongside a growing commercial portfolio. This is a long-term position for experienced engineers who are looking for stability and consistent work rather than short-term placements or frequent job changes.
Key Responsibilities
• Commercial mechanical installation work across a variety of sites
• Pipefitting and mechanical installation on commercial projects
• Working in plant rooms and mechanical service areas
• Installation and maintenance of boilers, pumps, valves and commercial heating systems
• Working across both commercial and secure environments including the prison estate
• Ensuring all work is completed to required safety and quality standards
Required Experience
• Strong background in commercial pipefitting and mechanical installation
• Experience working in plant rooms
• Large bore pipework experience
• Knowledge of boilers, pumps, valves and commercial heating systems
• Ability to work independently on commercial sites
Domestic plumbing experience alone is unlikely to be suitable for this role
Location Requirements
Candidates should ideally be based within approximately one hour of Bury St Edmunds, including:

• Chelmsford
• Cambridge

• Thetford
