We are more than just an iconic museum; we’re a fast-paced, high-energy team driven by innovation, passion, and a deep love for car culture and storytelling. From world-class exhibitions to unforgettable events, we bring history, design, and horsepower to life every day.
At Petersen Automotive Museum, we work hard, move fast, and have a blast doing it, all while pushing the boundaries of what a museum can be. If you're ready to shift into high gear with a crew that values creativity, integrity, and a good laugh along the way, you'll fit right in.
About the Role
Are you a highly motivated, results-driven marketing strategist with a knack for digital advertising, audience acquisition, and data-driven storytelling? Do you thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments where your creativity, analytical mindset, and strategic execution drive measurable growth and engagement?
We’re looking for a sharp, results-oriented Marketing Manager to lead the execution of our paid advertising, promotional campaigns, email marketing, and audience acquisition strategies. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will play a crucial role in driving museum attendance, memberships, event ticket sales, educational programs, retail sales, and fundraising initiatives with a "let's get it done" attitude.
Primary Responsibilities
Paid Media Strategy & Execution
• Develop and execute integrated paid advertising campaigns to drive general museum attendance, membership acquisition/renewals, signature events, educational programs, and retail/eCommerce sales.
• Manage advertising across Meta (Facebook & Instagram), Google Ads (Search, Display, Performance Max, YouTube), TikTok, Reddit, Programmatic Display, OOH, Radio, and Digital Out-of-Home opportunities.
• Lead end-to-end media planning, audience targeting, budget management, campaign optimization, creative testing, conversion tracking, ROAS analysis, and monthly performance reporting.
Email Marketing & Customer Lifecycle
• Own the museum’s email marketing program from strategy through execution across all customer journeys.
• Build and manage campaigns for audience segmentation, automated customer journeys, membership lifecycle, exhibition launches, event promotions, donation appeals, newsletters, and promotional messaging.
• Drive continuous performance improvements through A/B testing, deliverability monitoring, and campaign performance reporting using CRM and ESP platforms (such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
Promotional Calendar & Campaign Coordination
• Lead the promotional calendar across all museum departments and key initiatives.
• Coordinate cross-functional campaigns supporting major exhibitions, new collection announcements, signature fundraising events, family programming, corporate events, educational initiatives, retail launches, seasonal campaigns, and sponsor activations.
Analytics, Performance & Executive Reporting
• Measure, analyze, and optimize campaign performance against core KPIs, including CPA, ROAS, website conversions, ticket sales, membership growth, email engagement, Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), CAC, and revenue attribution.
• Develop executive reporting dashboards and deliver actionable insights and strategic recommendations to leadership for continuous optimization.
Qualifications
Required
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of digital marketing experience, including 3+ years managing paid advertising budgets.
• Budget Management: Proven experience managing annual advertising budgets exceeding $250,000.
• Technical Mastery: Strong knowledge of Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking setups, and email marketing platforms.
• Core Skills: Excellent project management abilities, strong copywriting and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex campaigns simultaneously.
• Certifications: Google Ads certification preferred.
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
• Experience with Shopify, Salesforce CRM, membership marketing, ticketing systems, event marketing, and marketing automation.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
Key Competencies
The ideal candidate is:
• Results-driven & Analytical: Obsessed with data, ROAS, conversion rates, and measurable campaign performance.
• Creative & Collaborative: A strategic thinker and storyteller who works seamlessly across departments.
• Detail-oriented & Organized: Able to balance multiple project timelines and fast-moving campaign launches without missing a beat.
• Adaptable & Passionate: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a genuine enthusiasm for automobiles, design, technology, and cultural experiences.
