Manufacturing Technician Optical & Semiconductor Systems £33,000 to £40,000 depending on experience Help build the technology enabling the next generation of semiconductors. We're looking for a skilled Manufacturing Technician to build, integrate and test the high-precision optical, electro-mechanical and photonic systems that sit at the heart of our technology. What you'll be doing Manufacture and test complex sub-assemblies involving optical, cabling, and electro-mechanical technologies, ensuring compliance with quality and performance standards. Identify, document, and escalate manufacturing issues—including defects, downtime, and abnormalities—using factual information, while collaborating with cross-functional support teams to drive timely and effective resolution. Working as a manufacturing team in maintaining and continuously improving manufacturing processes to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Ensuring assemblies are delivered to quality, cost and schedule requirements Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness across production and cleanroom environments. Liaise with Stock Operatives to ensure assembly kits are complete & accurate. Contributing to a safe, organised and high-performing manufacturing environment What we're looking for You'll ideally come from semiconductor equipment, photonics, scientific instrumentation, aerospace, medical devices or another high-tech manufacturing environment. We'd particularly like to hear from people with experience of: Building and testing complex, high-value technology products Electro-mechanical assembly and system integration Root cause analysis and structured problem solving Manufacturing practice, quality standards and root-cause basics Reading and following technical documentation and build procedures Working with precision mechanical and electronic components Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship Nice to have Semiconductor equipment or semiconductor manufacturing experience Cleanroom working experience Wiring and soldering to IPC standards Experience working with complex photonics or metrology equipment, such as optical systems, lasers, fibre optics, and precision instrumentation. Manufacturing engineering or process improvement exposure Qualifications A HND, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience in engineering, manufacturing, electronics, photonics or a related discipline.
