Manufacturing Systems & Strategic Volume Planning Intern (Spring 2027) Job Details | BMW Group Search Jobs Search Jobs Job Description Job Title: Manufacturing Systems & Strategic Volume Planning Intern (Spring 2027) Posting Start Date: 7/31/26 Job Location (Long): Spartanburg, South Carolina United States Job Description: Description : The Production Control Department is responsible for steering Plant Spartanburg’s production volume on a long term, short term and daily level, while maintaining an optimized production system. The department is integrated into all aspects of BMW’s manufacturing strategies. The Production Control department is divided into these main areas: • Support strategic volume planning & report to Senior Management. • Implement plant business strategy into a manufacturing plan. • Order Planning: sequences customer orders by adhering to assembly & supplier restrictions. Drives the master production sequence for the plant. • Program Planning: Develops production strategy (volume plan, shift model, production calendar) short term to long term. • Vehicle Control: manages the vehicle sequence throughout the plant to ensure on-time delivery of orders to our customers. The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions: • Identify, lead & support continuous improvement projects within the department. • Lead and coordinate cross-departmental improvement projects, collaborating with diverse technologies such as Steering Production, Production System, Logistics, Body-Shop, Paint-Shop, Assembly, Total Vehicle Quality Management, Human Resources, Finance & Compliance, Technical Planning, Battery Line, IT, Purchasing & Supplier Network, Facility Management and Communications. • Develop and refine data analysis tools to optimize process management and streamline daily reporting methods. • Engage with interdisciplinary teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of business operations, production systems, and supply chain intricacies of a large automotive manufacturing facility. • Generate and present insightful Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to inform and guide Plant management decisions. • Performs other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications: • Industrial & Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Project Management, Data analytics. • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major.) • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application. • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week). • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university. • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term. • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE January 11th — May 14th, 2027.
