The Role
We are currently seeking an exceptional leader for the role of Manager, Engineering, Urban Infrastructure, based in our Brisbane office, to lead a growing business unit. Reporting to the QLD State Manager, we are seeking an inspirational manager to play a vital strategic leadership role while supporting the significant growth strategies we have planned across the business.
In addition to overseeing a team of engineers, designers and drafters, the successful applicant will work closely with our wider project management, surveying, planning and advisory teams across the full project life cycle.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide operational, technical and performance excellence to grow the Urban Infrastructure division through effective people management, commercial performance, business development, client relationship management and project delivery
• Effectively plan and manage the performance of the local team in line with the market sector and state plans, and in support of SMEC’s vision and values
• Undertake client relationship management and business development activities in line with the market sector and state plans
• Provide project governance and project management within the local office to achieve reliable project performance in terms of complexity, timeliness and quality
• With support from the State Sector Manager, provide leadership and development opportunities to employees based in the local office to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development
• Provide support to the State Sector Manager and manage activities to transition the regional business model to a national service model
About You
• Minimum of 10–15 years’ relevant industry experience
• Demonstrated ability to actively manage and drive performance across diverse teams
• Previous experience providing leadership, supervision and mentoring to a high-performing multidisciplinary team
• Relevant professional registrations and memberships
• A strong understanding of project management and project governance
• Successfully led multidisciplinary projects to budget and in line with client expectations
• Effective collaboration skills with staff, contributors and clients to maintain the quality, timeliness and coordination of project deliverables
• Excellent business development capabilities
