The Manager, Durable Conservation and Finance sits in a team that catalyses long-term, sustainable financing for large-scale conservation areas. The Program Development and Integration unit of the Durable Conservation and Finance team identifies and develops WWF’s incoming Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) pipeline as part of the Enduring Earth partnership, facilitates pipeline development for aligned partnerships, pilots new areas of work, and supports the integration and success of the wider team. The Manager delivers cross-cutting outcomes for protected and conserved areas across that portfolio, working with internal and external experts in PFP, conservation finance, international financial institutions, protected and conserved areas, and colleagues across partnerships and the WWF Network. Duties include managing the Viability and Feasibility phases of the incoming PFP pipeline in close coordination with the Senior Director, Durable Conservation and Finance, managing teams conducting pipeline development, and advising staff, consultants, and external partners exploring new PFP opportunities. The Manager ensures aligned messaging and opportunity exploration across WWF-US, WWF Country Offices, and the WWF Network, and collaborates across internal, external, and matrixed teams to enhance opportunities during and across project phases, particularly with the Durable Conservation and Finance team, the Nature Finance and Investment team, Goal teams, and Public Sector Partnership teams. The role also ensures seamless transitions across PFP phases and captures and applies best practice and learning throughout the pipeline. Further responsibilities include advising partnerships aligned with Enduring Earth under the leadership of the Senior Director, convening colleagues across WWF to define priority geographies for deeper collaboration with emphasis on PFPs, debt deals, and other large-scale nature finance opportunities, coordinating with and advising WWF Country Offices on lessons learned from other geographies with a focus on assessing and aligning existing and potential finance streams, fostering collaboration with WWF-US’s Priority Places, Big Bets, and Goal teams, contributing to oversight of cross-cutting programme functions, and representing WWF at partnership and large-scale nature finance meetings, external workshops, conferences, and in partnerships. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred, in a relevant field such as conservation science, international environmental or finance policy, conservation finance, or natural resource economics, together with eight to ten years of programme or professional experience. Experience with protected and conserved areas, project finance for permanence, conservation finance, natural resource economics, or Indigenous peoples and local communities is preferred, as is experience with PFPs or similar large-scale, complex, multi-stakeholder projects and familiarity with government, private sector, and civil society actors working on nature and nature finance. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred and other languages are useful. WWF is looking for demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and advocate with diplomacy, to delegate and manage tasks across projects and subject matter experts, to synthesise complex technical information in real time for different audiences, and to work with considerable independence and discretion, alongside excellent project and time management and written and oral communication skills. Experience living or working overseas and within a large, complex organisation across geographical, cultural, and language boundaries is preferred.
