Description
Job Description We're seeking a Manager, AI Governance to lead the development and implementation of AFCA's AI governance and assurance framework, helping shape how artificial intelligence is adopted across the organisation in a way that aligns with our values, risk appetite and regulatory obligations. This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of AI, risk, governance, data, cyber security and emerging technology. You'll play a critical role in enabling the responsible adoption of generative AI, machine learning and agentic AI technologies across AFCA. Working closely with AI engineers, architects, risk specialists, privacy professionals, cyber security teams and business stakeholders, you'll establish governance-by-design practices that ensure AI solutions are explainable, secure, compliant, auditable and fit for purpose. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technology governance challenges while enabling innovation and practical delivery outcomes. Typically, in this role you will: • Design, implement and continuously improve AFCA's AI governance control framework. • Establish and operate AI lifecycle assurance processes from ideation through to retirement. • Define governance standards, evidence requirements and assurance artefacts for AI systems. • Conduct technical risk assessments across generative AI, machine learning and agentic AI solutions. • Develop and apply AI evaluation methods including robustness, fairness, groundedness and performance testing. • Partner with technology teams to embed governance-by-design controls into AI platforms and delivery practices. • Maintain AFCA's AI inventory and risk register, ensuring clear ownership, monitoring and governance oversight. • Prepare governance and assurance reporting for executives, audit stakeholders and governance forums. • Support organisation-wide AI governance capability uplift through guidance, education and collaboration.
