Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a PE backed supplier of specialist construction materials currently scaling up and experiencing rapid growth, in the recruitment of a Management Accountant, based in Brentwood. This is a newly created key position within the finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller: you will support the existing controllership processes, and demonstrate the ability to optimise and drive improvements, using new systems/technology, enterprise level processes, and development of the Group Finance Team. The purpose of the role is to prepare quality and timely monthly management accounts for 3 subsidiaries. Assist in the development of best-in-class financial controls and systems across the organisation, analysis of commercial and financial data. Adopting a business partnering approach you will provide engagement with financial and non-financial management across the business via high quality support and advice to budget owners, managers, and other staff. Key Tasks & Responsibilities – overview and not limited to - Reporting & Management Accounts • Support in preparation and publishing of timely monthly management accounts to the Board. • Responsible for in-month financial reporting as reporting suite develops. • To work with the FP&A team in identifying weaknesses in the current reporting suite and provide continued development and implementation of additional reporting across the business where appropriate. Financial Controls • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the accounting and control information held in and reported from the organisation’s accounting systems. • Continuous review of financial controls and processes, implementing improvements in consultation with the Financial Controller. Audit, Regulatory Reporting & Tax • Support Financial Controller and wider finance team in management of the year end audit process. • Support in preparation of statutory accounts where appropriate. • Research technical accounting issues for compliance. • Preparation and submission of VAT submissions. Forecasting • Supporting the Financial Controller in providing data to the Business Partner/FP&A leader in completion of the annual budget and forecasting cycle as appropriate. Additional Duties: • Supporting the Financial Controller in maintenance of the accounting system. • Review and approval of treasury transactions as appropriate. • Involvement in ad-hoc projects. Requirements & Skills • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA • Experienced and motivated by working in an environment of change and continual process improvement. Able to prioritise and re-prioritise as circumstances change. • A curious and questioning mind-set, highly motivated and enjoys problem solving • Ability to communicate to financial and non-financial personnel. • Excellent initiative and drive, enthusiastic, and focussed. • Accurate and organised, with excellent discipline, and an attention to detail. • Willingness to take on work and projects outside of day-to-day job description. Remuneration & Benefits • Salary £45-50,000 pa • Monday to Friday 8.00 – 4.30 pm – 37.5-hour week • Holidays: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays • Pension: Auto enrolment • Hybrid role – 4 days in the office, 1 day remote per week • Discretionary bonus • Free parking
