Maintenance Operative
Job Purpose
To provide a hands-on maintenance service across four residential care home locations in the Leeds area, ensuring buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds are safe, well maintained and presented to a high standard for residents, visitors and colleagues.
The role will involve travelling between sites and carrying out a wide range of general maintenance, repairs and handyman duties.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out general building and facilities maintenance across all four care home locations.
• Undertake minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decorating and general repair work.
• Repair and maintain fixtures, fittings, furniture, shelving, doors, locks and other building components.
• Move, assemble and install furniture and equipment as required.
• Maintain internal and external areas, including grounds, pathways and general site presentation.
• Identify faults and maintenance issues, resolving them where possible or arranging specialist support when required.
• Carry out routine maintenance checks, inspections and tests, ensuring these are recorded appropriately.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues and minimise disruption to residents, colleagues and visitors.
• Plan and prioritise maintenance work with site management around the day-to-day operation of the care homes.
• Work independently, managing workloads across multiple locations while maintaining clear communication with site teams.
• Maintain a safe, clean and well-presented environment across all sites.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers where specialist maintenance or repairs are required.
• Use initiative to identify and implement improvements to buildings, facilities and grounds.
• Support site teams with practical maintenance requirements for events and activities.
Essential Criteria
• Full clean UK driving licence.
• Own reliable vehicle and ability to travel between four care home locations in the Leeds area.
• Proven practical maintenance or handyman experience.
• Competent across a range of general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, basic electrical work, decorating, carpentry and general repairs.

This role is a casual position to cover annual leave and sickness initially, however there is the possibility of it becoming permanent for the right person.
