Maintenance Engineer (Mech or Elec) – Taunton
£46,000 + Excellent Benefits | Double Days | Monday to Friday
Kingston Barnes is recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established, market-leading food manufacturing business based in Taunton . This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company that invests in its people and equipment, offering a varied role within a modern FMCG production environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs across a range of production machinery. You'll work on a mix of modern and legacy equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and supporting continuous production.
Key responsibilities include:
• Electrical and/or mechanical fault finding on FMCG production machinery (training provided where required)
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
• Working on conveyors, star-delta systems, control systems, transformers and inverters
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently to minimise downtime
• Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining high engineering standards
The Candidate
To be considered, you should have:
• A background in electrical or mechanical maintenance engineering
• Experience within a manufacturing or production environment (FMCG experience desirable)
• An electrical qualification if electrically biased
• Strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to maintenance
• A willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced engineering team
Shift Pattern
A rotating Monday to Friday shift pattern consisting of:
• 6:00am – 2:30pm (2 weeks)
• 2:00pm – 10:30pm (2 weeks)
• Day shift (7:00am/8:00am/9:00am start with corresponding finish) (1 week)
Salary & Benefits
• £46,000 per annum
• 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
• 8% employer pension contribution

• Time and a half on Saturdays
• Double time on Sundays
• Double time plus a day back in lieu for Bank Holidays worked
