Administers medication when a predictable outcome is expected in residents with common re-occurring health problems. Applies the "rights " of medication administration: right medication, right resident, right dose, right time, right route, right technique and right documentation. Administers PRN medications in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Wyoming State Board of Nursing. 50Removes urinary catheter; obtains urine specimen from catheter port; performs elimination procedures. Gastrostomy and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy feeding tubes in a stable site; oropharyngeal suctioning; capillary blood glucose testing and responds to mental health needs (signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety). Precisely and accurately documents procedures performed. Performs oxygen therapy, sterile technique, wound care, trach care for residents with well-established tracheostomy; and assists with set up of equipment and discontinuing IVs. Performs other general CNA duties as needed such as transporting residents to and from appointments; assisting residents with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, bathing, eating, dressing, etc.; assisting residents with toileting; assisting residents with mobility; and responding in an emergency with CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, basic first aid and resident evacuation. Other essential duties as detailed in the Job Content Questionnaire for HSHS04, CNA. These general CNA duties may not be performed during medication pass time. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1. Basic Nursing Assistant procedures and responsibilities 2. Knowledge and skills of the CNA II 3. Knowledge and skills of the MA-C 4. Knowledge of diseases and disabilities of elderly 5. Knowledge of infection control techniques 6. Maintenance and use of nursing equipment 7. Knowledge of facility policies and procedures 8. Ability to work on a team. Good oral and written communication skills CPR and Basic First Aid 9. Knowledge and use of good body mechanics - walk, stand, bend and stoop 10. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. 11. Be observant and communicate subtle changes to charge nurses Certifications: Licensed Certified Medication Assistant with a high school diploma or equivalent, and state-approved MA-C training
