Recognized for fast innovation and impact, Gain has been named both US and EU Data Provider of the Year by PE Wire, awarded Global Financial Market Review’s Best Use of AI in Finance, and ranked in Sifted’s Top 100 Fastest-Growing Companies, the Forbes 1000, and the Deloitte Technology Fast 50. Gain operates globally with offices in New York, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Warsaw, and Bangalore. What will you do? While we aren't actively recruiting for this specific role right now, we are proactively building a pipeline of talented candidates. We encourage you to apply so we can easily connect as soon as an opening comes up. As an Intelligence Originator, you will help to build a proprietary, real-time dataset on European M&A transactions. This is not a traditional reporting role. You won’t be writing news stories or chasing headlines. Instead, your mission is to cultivate a trusted network of off-record sources - including investment bankers, private equity sponsors, advisors, consultants, lenders, and lawyers - and extract proprietary intelligence on live deals. The insights you gather will be structured into clean, machine-readable datapoints that power our platform. These include financials, process stage, valuation ranges, suitor lists, lender involvement, deal motivation, and more - forming the backbone of what our clients use to originate and analyse transactions. You’ll be speaking with market participants in a background-only capacity, surfacing intelligence that rarely appears in the public domain. Working closely with our analyst and research teams, you’ll help convert these raw insights into structured, scalable data - fuelling client workflows and supporting better dealmaking decisions. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain a network of sources - including bankers, sponsors, lenders, lawyers, consultants, and other advisors Conduct daily off-record, high-trust conversations to surface non-public insights on deal activity (e.g. bidders, valuation ranges, advisors, incumbent lenders, deal rationale, timeline) Identify and monitor live and upcoming M&A transactions in your region Ensure high-quality sourcing of proprietary datapoints that feed directly into the Gain platform - not written articles Collaborate closely with our in-house analysts and research teams to ensure data completeness, consistency and structured format Support the expansion of our real-time transaction pipeline and contribute to internal market intelligence sharing Who are you? Strong knowledge of M&A, private equity or private credit markets Experience sourcing market intelligence - in journalism, research, origination, investor relations or a related field Skilled at cultivating senior-level sources and handling off-record, background-only conversations Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both in-person and remotely High attention to detail and ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy Comfortable operating independently as part of a fast-moving, entrepreneurial team What do we offer? Competitive base salary and annual bonus linked to your performance Attractive benefits including private medical insurance, health & wellbeing allowance, work-from-home budget, learning & coaching benefits, etc. Flexible hybrid work
