The Wisconsin DNR is hiring two 20-hour-per-week limited-term positions headquartered out of the Spooner Service Center in Washburn County. Candidates may apply to both or only one, and a single applicant is eligible to hold both positions for a total of 40 hours per work week; successful candidates must be residents of the State of Wisconsin. The LTE Wildlife Technician Advanced is responsible for a broad range of technical paraprofessional support for the wildlife management programme, including leading the implementation of priority habitat management activities, implementing biological surveys, maintaining internal databases and providing timely customer service. Work occurs throughout the St Croix Area in northwestern Wisconsin, with a focus in Washburn and Burnett Counties. Duties are weighted as follows: leading the implementation of priority habitat management activities, including leading field crews, operating equipment, managing water control structures and supporting infrastructure, applying herbicide and participating in prescribed fire operations (40 percent); implementing biological surveys and waterfowl or dove banding operations, which may include waterfowl, otter, large carnivore, upland bird brood, summer deer, woodcock, ruffed grouse and crane survey data collection and entry (20 percent); maintaining internal databases associated with land and wildlife management activities, including reconnaissance updates and documentation for completed treatments (20 percent); providing timely customer service, including responding to nuisance and injured animal concerns and providing general information about recreational opportunities (10 percent); and other paraprofessional or technical duties supporting the Wildlife Management programme as assigned (10 percent).
