In this role, you will lead and influence initiatives that strengthen inclusive practices, build organisational capability, and champion the needs and experiences of LGBTIQA+ communities. Your work will   help create more accessible, responsive, and   equitable   services while fostering a culture where everyone feels they belong. In doing so, you will play a critical role in advancing our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and dignity for all. About the role As the   LGBTIQA+ Specialist , you will provide specialist knowledge, leadership, and guidance to strengthen LGBTIQA+ inclusion across Social and Community Mission (SCM). Working closely with SCM leaders and key stakeholders, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs, projects, and initiatives that enhance inclusive service delivery and support the department's Quality Workplan. In partnership with the DEI Specialist, you will help drive meaningful organisational change, advocate for inclusive practices, and ensure services are welcoming, safe, and responsive for LGBTIQA+ individuals and communities. Reporting to the   Head of Social and Community Mission, this is a   permanent part-time   hybrid role, 19 hours per week .   We offer flexible location options for this role, with the successful candidate able to be based at either our Territorial Support Office in Blackburn, VIC, or our Territorial Headquarters in Redfern, NSW. Conditions Compensation is   in accordance with   the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award – Level 7. How you will make an impact • Lead LGBTIQA+ inclusion initiatives across Social and Community Mission, supporting the delivery of quality improvement priorities and Rainbow Tick accreditation outcomes • Drive the embedding of inclusive practice through specialist advice, resources, consultation, data insights, and Communities of Practice that build capability across services • Develop and   maintain   strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring meaningful engagement with key organisations and communities within the LGBTIQA+ sector • Champion workforce inclusion by supporting initiatives that enhance the experience, wellbeing, and sense of belonging of LGBTIQA+ employees • Coordinate and promote participation in LGBTIQA+ events and awareness initiatives, strengthening advocacy, visibility, and inclusive service delivery across the organisation What you will bring • Tertiary d egree qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Community   Development   or related field   or • D emonstrated   commensurate   level of sector knowledge through   previous   appointments and professional development • At least 5 years’ experience in a community services role • Demonstrated ability to influence and build strong stakeholder relationships, with experience fostering collaboration, navigating complex discussions, and driving positive outcomes across diverse groups and perspectives • Proven capability to lead change, innovation, and continuous improvement, with the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that strengthen inclusive practices, enhance service delivery, and achieve organisational goals • A current   Employee Working with Children Check What we offer The Salvos offer eligible   employee's   a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including: • Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit • Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers,   Purchased   Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities • Flexible   hybrid   working arrangements • Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives   incl Fitness Passport • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander supports such as: Burra   Burra   Network (pastoral care network), Cultural Events, Sorry Business and Ceremonial Leave (up to 10 days) • Ongoing training and development opportunities   that enhance on the job skills and   proficiency • Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers   that have positive and sustainable / social impacts How to apply I f   you’re   passionate about making a difference and ready to join a team dedicated to creating positive change ,   please   submit   your   resume and cover letter   detailing your alignment with the requirements of the role.
