Legal Counsel (1-year Fixed-Term - Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%) – Luxembourg City Are you a skilled legal professional ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, global environment? About the Role This is a maternity cover position for 1 year, offering a rare chance to step into a high-impact legal role with broad scope and real responsibility. You'll be a key member of our Luxembourg legal team, advising on a wide range of corporate, legal, and regulatory matters for Swiss Re entities across the globe. No two days will look the same — from attending board meetings to driving restructuring projects, you'll be at the centre of the action. Key Responsibilities • Oversee corporate legal and regulatory matters for Luxembourg-based companies and their global branches and subsidiaries, ensuring compliance and sound governance • Act as a trusted legal advisor, delivering clear, practical, and commercially sound legal and regulatory guidance to stakeholders across the business • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and proactively advise management on their implications for Swiss Re's operations and strategy • Attend legal entity meetings, prepare and deliver compelling presentations and legal reports to senior management • Engage in corporate restructuring projects, contributing legal expertise to support Swiss Re's evolving business needs • Develop templates, policies, and processes to strengthen legal frameworks and drive operational efficiency • Manage outside counsel relationships, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective external legal support About the Team The EMEA Advisory Legal team and the wider Legal & Compliance Division supports across business units, companies and jurisdictions. We work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders to support the company's strategic objectives while ensuring robust governance and the highest standards of integrity across our operations. About You You are a proactive and commercially minded legal professional who brings both technical expertise and a collaborative spirit to everything you do. You take ownership of your work, demonstrate resilience under pressure, and approach challenges with enthusiasm and a solutions-oriented mindset. We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements: • Luxembourg-qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of practical experience in a law firm or international organisation • Expertise in Luxembourg corporate law and regulations applicable to CSSF and/or CAA supervised companies • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken), with strong communication skills across both languages • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously These are additional nice to haves: • Proficiency in additional European languages (e.g., German, Italian, or Spanish) • Experience working in an international or multinational corporate environment, ideally in the re/insurance sector Additional Information: Please note that a valid work permit for Luxembourg is required for this position. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
