The firm’s collaborative groups of researchers, engineers, and investment professionals deploy sophisticated statistical models, proprietary technology, and a centralized data platform to isolate and solve challenging problem sets in the global financial markets.   About the Role We are  seeking  a strategic ,  creative  and commercially minded Legal Counsel to  facilitate  and support our  APAC expansion, currently  located  in Singapore and expanding to Hong Kong .   Y our role will be to   provid e  practical,  solutions -oriented legal guidance aligned with the firm’s growth  objectives .   This individual will serve as the primary legal partner for the APAC business, working closely with business management, portfolio managers, trading, operations, finance, legal and compliance globally to ensure that risk is managed effectively while facilitating access to new markets, products and regions.    Key Responsibilities   Advise business on applicable trading rules and regulations   Work with the APAC compliance officer (located in Singapore) to facilitate registration processes for new licenses and regulatory applications in APAC.    Conduct due diligence and negotiate sub-advisory agreements with APAC sub-advisors identified by the business team   Facilitate and manage APAC prime brokerage relationships, ISDAs, execution arrangements and other trading documentation, including negotiation and execution of account opening documentation and amendments   Review data agreements; coordinate with business on obtaining new datasets and streamlining regional processes   Review other contracts arising with respect to the APAC business   Advise on legal and regulatory matters impacting APAC operations, regulatory developments, trading activities, and fund structures   Provide clear, commercially oriented legal advice to support business growth while maintaining a strong risk framework   Maintain a collaborative relationship with the Singapore Compliance Officer    Qualifications   Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong or Singapore   Solid understanding of APAC regulatory frameworks relevant to investment managers and trading entities   Experience engaging with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and familiarity with Hong Kong licensing requirements strongly preferred   Experience in Singapore, Japan and Australia   Best candidates will have experience with both trading, APAC prime brokerage relationships, ISDAs, execution arrangements and other trading documentation as well as global hedge fund structures   Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving, and growth-oriented environment   Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across functions and geographies   High level of integrity, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions-driven mindset
