Description
A leading European passenger transport business is seeking a commercially focused Legal Counsel to join its Group Legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a broad commercial role supporting major procurement projects, strategic tender opportunities and complex commercial arrangements across the UK and Europe. Working closely with business stakeholders, you will play a key role in helping the organisation secure and deliver significant contracts while managing legal and commercial risk. The role • Lead legal support on major procurement exercises, tender submissions and bid opportunities. • Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, concession agreements and framework arrangements. • Advise on public and private sector procurement matters throughout the bid lifecycle. • Assess legal and commercial risk and provide practical, solution-focused advice to stakeholders. • Support business development and growth initiatives across the UK and Europe. • Work closely with Commercial, Procurement, Finance and operational teams to deliver strategic projects. • Manage relationships with external counsel where required. • Contribute to wider legal and governance initiatives across the Group. The ideal candidate • Qualified lawyer with 3-8 years’ PQE. • Strong commercial contracts experience gained in private practice or in-house. • Experience supporting procurement, tendering, bid or concession processes. • Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives. • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. • Pragmatic, business-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. • Exposure to regulated sectors, infrastructure, transport or public sector contracting would be advantageous but is not essential. Why apply? • Opportunity to work on high-value, strategically important procurement and tender projects. • Direct exposure to senior commercial stakeholders across the business. • Varied and commercially focused workload with real business impact. • Collaborative and experienced legal team. • Hybrid working with 3 days per week in the London office.
