ABOUT THE ROLE: We are looking for a Legal Counsel to serve as a key legal partner to the business as PolicyStreet continues to scale across Southeast Asia. This role will work closely with senior leadership to support commercial partnerships, regulatory matters, and strategic initiatives across the group, including our reinsurance arm Polisea Re. You will operate as a trusted legal advisor to the business, helping structure partnerships, manage legal risk, and enable innovative insurance solutions in a fast-moving regulatory environment. As the company grows, this role will also contribute to building and shaping the legal function, establishing frameworks and processes that support the long-term scalability of the organisation. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Strategic Legal Advisory Act as a trusted legal partner to business leaders, providing pragmatic legal advice that enables commercial objectives while managing risk. Identify legal risks early and propose practical, business-oriented solutions. Commercial Contracts & Partnerships Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including: - insurance partnerships - distribution agreements - technology and platform integrations - service provider arrangements - cross-border commercial contracts Ensure agreements accurately reflect commercial intent while protecting the company’s interests. Regulatory & Compliance Support the company in navigating regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions including Malaysia, Labuan, and other regional markets. Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulatory frameworks, and licensing requirements. Monitor regulatory developments affecting insurance, fintech, and digital distribution models. Insurance & Risk Structures Support legal aspects of insurance programs, underwriting partnerships, and reinsurance arrangements, including reviewing policy structures and commercial frameworks. Work closely with underwriting, product, and partnership teams to ensure new programs are legally sound and commercially viable. Legal Operations & Governance Establish and maintain legal documentation standards, contract management practices, and governance frameworks that support the company’s growth. Over time, help shape and build the legal function and capabilities as the organisation scales. Cross-Functional
