About the Role
Owen Reed is looking to recruit an experienced Legal Cashier for a top law firm .
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team on a fully remote, part-time basis. Working alongside experienced Legal Cashiers and reporting to the Head Cashier, you’ll play a key role in supporting the firm’s cashiering function by ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR).
This role is ideal for an organised and detail-oriented Legal Cashier who enjoys working in a fast-paced legal finance environment and is confident managing their workload independently while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
As a Legal Cashier, you will:
• Process counsel fee notes, expert invoices and client disbursement invoices accurately.
• Post internal disbursements, including file opening, printing and postage charges.
• Process client interest and Direct Debit transactions where required.
• Investigate and assist with resolving office credit balances.
• Carry out sanctions checks on incoming payments in accordance with firm procedures.
• Ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and within required timescales.
• Monitor compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and escalate any potential breaches appropriately.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure supporting documentation is filed correctly.
• Support office and client account transactions during busy periods or team absences.
• Process electronic payments, including BACS, CHAPS and international payments.
• Monitor incoming client funds and liaise with fee earners to ensure receipts are allocated promptly.
• Process client-to-client and client-to-office transfers and allocate receipts against outstanding bills.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider finance team to deliver an efficient and compliant service.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
• A minimum of 12 months’ experience working as a Legal Cashier, Office Cashier or within legal accounts in a law firm.
• A good understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) .
• Previous experience supporting accounts payable or legal cashiering functions.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while working independently.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience working successfully in a remote environment.
• Strong IT skills and confidence using legal finance systems.
• Experience using Aderant Expert , Barclays Internet Banking (BIB) or Dotnet would be highly advantageous.
• An ILCA or ILFM qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
