Role Overview This position is for an academic who will take ownership of teaching, research, and service within the department. You will spend your time delivering lectures and practical sessions, building a productive research agenda, publishing in scholarly journals, and guiding students through their academic progress. Your work directly supports the university's strategic commitment to educational excellence, innovation, and meaningful engagement with the wider community. Key Responsibilities • Deliver lectures, seminars, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as assigned by the Head of Department. • Design and refresh course materials, assessments, and reading lists to keep programmes academically rigorous and current in your discipline. • Collaborate with departmental colleagues on curriculum development, programme reviews, and new course proposals. • Develop and submit competitive research grant applications and pursue consultancy opportunities aligned with your expertise. • Conduct original research and present findings at national and international conferences, workshops, and academic forums. • Publish high-quality research outputs in recognised peer-reviewed journals and scholarly outlets. • Provide academic advising, mentorship, and career support to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as junior staff. • Serve actively on departmental, faculty, and university committees and contribute to broader academic governance. Requirements & Qualifications • A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a discipline relevant to the departmental teaching and research areas, obtained from a recognised and accredited university. • Registration with the applicable professional body in the field, or clear eligibility for such registration. • Demonstrable experience in university-level teaching, including course coordination and student supervision. • A strong record of research and publication appropriate to the level of the appointment. • A commitment to inclusive, student-centred pedagogy and the ability to foster a positive learning environment.
