Lead Mechanic/Asst. Shop Manager inspects, services, and maintains heavy-duty construction equipment. The Lead Mechanic/Asst. Shop Manager is responsible for driving to the job site, inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to the construction fleet. Generally, the duties performed by Lead Mechanic/Asst. Requirements and Skills Below are the major skills, abilities, and knowledge that we expect candidates for the heavy equipment mechanic job to possess to be considered for an interview appointment: • Must have own tools. • Knowledge: Must have good knowledge and understanding of engine, hydraulics, electrical, fuel systems, and general mechanical repairs. • Work Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience as a Lead Mechanic/Asst. Shop Manager. Computer experience with machine software such as Cat ET and Mack Tech tool/Volvo Vcads and/or similar. • Communication: Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions and must be willing to adhere to plans and directives. • Health & Safety: Applicants must have a good driving record.
