Operation Services Limited About the role We are looking for an experienced Lead Asset Manager to join our team, based from our Milton Keynes office.   The role will require some UK travel. As the Lead Asset Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the operational, contractual, commercial, and financial performance of a portfolio of utility-scale solar assets. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring excellent service delivery while leading a team of Asset Managers and coordinating internal and external stakeholders to maximise asset performance, contractual compliance, and long-term value. The role combines technical, commercial, and leadership responsibilities, requiring a proactive approach to client management, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Success as a Lead Asset Manager is measured not only by the operational performance of the portfolio but by the strength of client relationships, the effectiveness of the team, and the ability to identify opportunities that improve both customer outcomes and business performance. The role requires balancing technical expertise, commercial awareness, and leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of a growing renewable energy portfolio. What you will do Client Relationship Management • Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients and site owners. • Build and maintain strong, collaborative client relationships based on trust, transparency, and excellent service. • Lead monthly and quarterly client performance meetings. • Manage client queries, complaints, and escalations, ensuring prompt resolution. Asset & Operational Management • Take overall ownership of a portfolio of solar assets, ensuring delivery of the contracted scope of services. • Coordinate internal teams and external contractors to maximise production, minimise downtime, and optimise operational performance. • Monitor asset availability, performance ratios, repair times, incident response, and other key operational KPIs. • Identify trends and recurring issues across the portfolio and implement long-term corrective actions. • Working in collaboration with other teams to resolve operational issues. • Support the onboarding of new assets and ensure a smooth transition into operational management. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Contract Management • Manage all O&M contracts, service agreements, and associated contractual obligations. • Review contractual risks, breaches, liquidated damages, and commercial implications. • Identify opportunities to expand services and generate additional revenue through value-added offerings. • Support contract renewals, amendments, and change management processes. Financial & Commercial Management • Support the preparation and management of annual operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets. • Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for cost optimisation. • Review quotations and approve expenditure in line with delegated authority. • Identify commercial opportunities that improve portfolio profitability and client value. Team Leadership • Lead, coach, and support a team of Asset Managers, Solar Analysts, promoting collaboration, accountability, and professional development. • Act as the senior escalation point for operational and client-related issues. • Prioritise workload across the team to ensure contractual obligations are delivered effectively. • Share knowledge, develop best practices, and improve internal processes. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, customer focus, and operational excellence. What you’ll need to succeed • Education – degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management or other relevant discipline; consideration will be given to those without but with significant experience in a similar role. • Experience – previous experience with managing the technical operations of solar assets or similar technologies. • Industry Knowledge – understanding of solar technology, solar farm operations, SCADA systems and UK HSE legislation. • Contract Management – proven track record with managing contracts; able to read, understand and enforce contracts effectively. • Analysis – attention to detail, able to manipulate and assess data to see patterns and trends. • Communication – customer orientated with the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate at all levels, both written and verbally. • Naturally well prepared and organised, with the ability to deal with competing priorities, manage a diverse workload and meet targets and deadlines. • IT Skills – highly proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office packages with excellent excel skills. • Drivers Licence – due to the nature of the role there is a requirement for a valid licence.
