Assignment
Raman spectroscopy is a powerful, non-destructive analytical technique used in:
• Materials science
• Polymer analysis
• Semiconductor characterization
• Chemical identification
• Quality control
However, Raman systems typically use Class 3B or Class 4 lasers, which pose:
• Eye safety hazards
• Skin exposure risks
• Stray beam reflections
• Regulatory compliance challenges
In addition, many laboratory Raman setups:
• Require manual sample insertion
• Are not fully enclosed
• Lack interlock systems
• Do not support rapid sample exchange
To enable safe, repeatable, and efficient operations, especially in shared laboratory or industrial environments, a fully enclosed, interlocked Raman system with a modular sample exchange mechanism is required.
Objective
To design, build, and validate a:
• Fully enclosed laser-safe Raman setup
• Interlock-controlled safety system compliant with laser safety standards
• Modular sample exchange mechanism enabling safe and repeatable measurements
• Documented system ready for laboratory or industrial deployment
We are looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic HBO or WO student with a background in:
• Applied Physics
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Industrial Design Engineering
We offer:
• A good compensation per month
• Travel reimbursement of €0,23 per km (when traveling by car)
• Informal work atmosphere, short lines of communication
• Working in a high-tech environment
