Description
TITLE: KG VICE PRINCIPAL REPORTS TO: KG PRINCIPAL Primary Functions. The KG Vice Principal is responsible for managing KG staff and students as directed by the principal.  Responsibilities include discipline, assessments, supervision of classroom instruction, supervision of teacher assistants, supervision of office staff, teacher observation and evaluation, special schedules and procedures, KG to elementary school transition, development of school and class schedules, communication with the community, development and maintenance of the staff handbook and its procedures, special events and daily operations. Discipline: • Develop and maintain procedures to implement school discipline policy. • Track student behavior.  Record and monitor infractions. • Provide weekly report to Principal, Superintendent and management of discipline issues.  Meet with students and parents regarding behavior issues. • Develop and monitor behavior contracts for students at risk. Assessments: • Monitor assessment schedules through weekly meetings that are conducted at grade level and ensure that results have been uploaded to Power Teacher. Supervision of Classroom Instruction: • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate, inquiry-based preschool-KG curriculum for young children following the guidelines set forth in the New York State Standards Kindergarten Framework and Curriculum Guide. • Confirm all  PowerTeacher  reports are done correctly (weekly by Wed. Noon). • Confirm all  PowerTeacher  reports are uploaded (weekly by Thurs.2:30) • Observe all classroom instruction, document observations. • Conference with teachers and provide corrective instructional strategies where needed. • Arrange for teacher training in conjunction with Principal and PD coordinator. • Meet with teachers and parents regarding student’s academic/behavior performance as needed and upload parent meeting minutes to Power Administrative. Teacher Observation and Evaluation: • Collaborate with faculty on performance objectives • Conduct walk thru observations on a regular basis. • Conduct a minimum of two formal evaluations during each academic year and provide feedback with each teacher following each fo rmal evaluation. Other duties assigned by the principal or management.
