Cashier Job Summary The Cashier is responsible for providing friendly, accurate, and efficient customer service while processing transactions. This role ensures customers are checked out correctly, payments are handled properly, and the checkout area remains clean and organized. Cashiers are often the final point of contact with customers and play a key role in creating a positive customer experience. Key Responsibilities • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner • Accurately ring up purchases using the POS system • Handle cash, credit/debit cards, gift cards, and other payment methods • Issue receipts, refunds, exchanges, and voids according to company policy • Maintain an accurate cash drawer and balance at the end of each shift • Answer basic customer questions and assist with product inquiries • Follow all pricing, discount, and promotional guidelines • Keep checkout area clean, stocked, and organized • Assist with light stocking, bagging, or front-of-house tasks as needed • Follow all company policies related to cash handling, safety, and customer service Required Skills & Qualifications • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Basic math and money-handling skills • Ability to use a POS system (or willingness to learn) • Reliable, punctual, and dependable • Friendly attitude with good communication skills • Ability to stand for extended periods Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) • Previous cashier or customer service experience • Experience in grocery, retail, deli, or food service environments Physical Requirements • Standing for long periods of time • Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of items Work Environment • Fast-paced retail or food service environment • Exposure to customers, noise, and busy service periods
