Observability Consultant (Contract) Location: UK (Remote with occasional client travel) Clearance: SC Clearance Employment Type: Contract Role Overview An organisation is seeking an Observability Consultant to support the deployment, configuration and ongoing management of an enterprise observability platform. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in monitoring or infrastructure support looking to develop their expertise in observability technologies. Working alongside senior consultants, you will assist with implementing monitoring solutions, configuring dashboards and alerts, supporting customer environments, and helping improve system visibility and performance. Key Responsibilities • Deploy and configure monitoring agents and supporting infrastructure. • Configure dashboards, alerting, tagging and health monitoring. • Support log monitoring, custom metrics and event configuration. • Monitor platform health and investigate alerts and incidents. • Produce technical documentation and operational runbooks. • Support customer workshops and technical discussions. • Assist with integrations with ITSM platforms and automation tools. • Help maintain platform configurations and security tokens. Required Skills & Experience • Experience with an observability or application monitoring platform (such as Dynatrace or similar). • Around 2+ years' experience in IT operations, infrastructure, systems administration or monitoring. • Good understanding of observability concepts including metrics, logs, traces and alerting. • Experience producing technical documentation and following change management processes. Technical Knowledge Exposure to some of the following: • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud) • Kubernetes, Docker or OpenShift • Windows Server and/or Linux • Application Performance Monitoring (APM) • Infrastructure, log, synthetic and real user monitoring • OpenTelemetry (OTEL) • ITSM platforms (e.g. ServiceNow) • CI/CD and automation tools (Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible or Terraform) • Python, Bash or PowerShell scripting • Networking fundamentals including DNS, firewalls, proxies and TLS Desirable • Exposure to cloud or DevOps environments. • Experience supporting monitoring platforms within an operations or managed services environment. • Familiarity with ITSM integrations and automation. • Relevant observability certification or willingness to achieve one.
