Description
Junior Construction Solicitor
A leading London law firm is seeking a talented and ambitious junior construction lawyer to join its highly regarded Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor at the early stages of their career to develop their expertise within a practice that offers exposure to a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious construction matters.
The successful candidate will work closely with partners and senior associates on a wide range of high-quality mandates for developers, contractors, consultants, investors, lenders and other commercial clients across a variety of sectors.
The Role
The role offers a caseload spanning both disputes and non-contentious work, including:
• Assisting with the management and resolution of construction and engineering disputes.
• Advising on matters involving disputed accounts, extensions of time, delay claims, defects, workmanship and materials issues, and professional negligence.
• Working on adjudications under the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996, as well as litigation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
• Drafting correspondence, pleadings and legal submissions, and supporting matters through the Technology and Construction Court (TCC).
• Developing familiarity with the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction and Engineering Disputes and the procedures of the TCC.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of construction documentation, including building contracts (principally JCT contracts and related forms).
• Advising on and preparing professional appointments and consultants' terms of engagement.
• Drafting and negotiating collateral warranties, parent company guarantees and performance bonds.
• Supporting clients throughout the lifecycle of construction and development projects.
• Collaborating with colleagues across wider real estate, corporate, banking and dispute resolution teams on multi-disciplinary matters.
Candidate Profile
Applications are invited from candidates who can demonstrate:
• Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales.
• Experience gained within a recognised construction practice, whether through training seats, post-qualification work or a combination of both.
• Exposure to either contentious or non-contentious construction matters, with a genuine interest in developing expertise across both disciplines.
• Strong technical and drafting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• A commercial, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team while managing responsibilities proactively.
The Opportunity
This position offers the chance to join a supportive and collegiate team with an excellent reputation in the construction sector. The successful candidate will receive high levels of responsibility, direct client exposure and ongoing mentoring from experienced practitioners, providing an outstanding platform for long-term career development.
